Natural soils are full of bugs, and the bugs that are there will thrive in those conditions. You won’t find bugs that aren’t happy somewhere staying. BUT in contaminated soils, humans are adding something to the ground that could be harmful to the natural soils, this could be something like petrol which might kill the natural insects and wildlife. There are some microbes and bacteria that eat petrol and diesel, so there is pretty much always something alive in the ground.
