      Reduce reuse recycle!

Before you buy anything plastic, think about whether you really need it and if there is a good non-plastic alternative. If you do need it, try and re-use it or recycle it when you are finished with it.

Some things you can do are drinking from a re-usable water bottle instead of buying bottles of juice that get thrown away. And always taking a re-usable bag to the shops.

It’s also a nice idea to do a little clean-up if you are ever in the woods or at the beach and see rubbish lying around – get your class together and do a park clean-up! It means less plastic lying around for birds and animals to get stuck in or eat by mistake.

If we all do a little bit we can make a huge difference 🙂

Absolutely what Dionne has said! When you next go to the beach, take a bag and do a little bit of a beach clean once you’re done playing in the sea. You’ll be surprised just how much rubbish there is out there. But most of the ways you can help are at home. Plastics that we use once and then throw away are such a big problem. These include plastic cups, plastic knives and forks, food that has lots of packaging that isn’t needed etc. It takes thousands and thousands of years for that plastic to break down, and we use these items for about 5 minutes and then just throw them away! So don’t use plastic that you will only use once and then throw away.
Exactly as Dionne has said – everyone in the world needs to do their bit to help 🙂

I totally agree with the others. I have been to some really remote beaches in Scotland, and yet there is still plastic waste on them! Think about using only the plastic that you need (and avoid if possible), re-use it if you can, and when you really have to throw it away make sure it gets recycled!
