The deepest part of the sea is called the Mariana Trench. It’s near the coast of Japan and the Phillippines. At it’s deepest, it’s 10,994 metres deep (you could pop Mount Everest in there and still have over 2,000 metres spare!). Even though it’s sooooo deep, scientists think that there is life there!

      Great answer from Liam 🙂

Life is pretty tough in the deep sea… cold, not much oxygen, very little light, and huge pressure from the weight of the water. You get some weird and wonderful fish down there. Have you seen pictures of the blobfish? Voted worlds ugliest creature… they live around 1,000 metres down below sea level. Anglerfish are pretty cool too, they have glowing lights on their heads to lure their prey!

But 1000 metres seems like pretty shallow waters compared to the Mariana Trench!
