It’s cool! I get to decide what bits of science are most interesting, and then research them some more. I also get to work with colleagues from all over the world and solve some very interesting problems together. But the most fun part is being able to talk to other people about science – like this website!

It’s brilliant! I get freedom to follow my curiosity and find out how things work, discover new things, and get to keep learning! The days are so different, lots of challenges and problems to solve. Doing the actual research in the lab is a big part, but the other big part is communicating it… So teaching, writing, presenting, meeting people and sharing ideas. I love helping people understand science 🙂

Unlike Liam and Dionne, I’m not a researcher. I work for a company so I use a lot of science that other people have researched in my job, but I’m still a scientist. Not all scientists wear white coats, I wear a suit, or overalls.

To me being a scientist means learning all the time and being able to explain what is happening without actually being able to see what’s going on. I study what is going on beneath the ground and make assumptions based on limited data.

Fun, frustrating, exciting, challenging – never boring really. I’m really proud to be a scientist

I love it! I get to work independently, and I’m always learning new things. In my job I don’t make new discoveries, I look at everyday problems and find out what the discovery scientists should research to help to fix this problem.
