Because science is COOL! I loved it as a kid and I’ve studied it ever since, just getting a little bit more specialized at every level. I love finding out new discoveries, talking to people about all the discoveries that they are making and also just finding out more about how the Earth works. There’s so much we still don’t know about the world, and I’d love to help answer some of those puzzles! Also, there are the occasional explosions in the lab… but we don’t tell the boss that 😉

To quote Lady Gaga I was “Born this way”! I honestly believe I was always likely to become a scientist because I wanted to find out about how things worked, especially in the environment. That’s not to say I couldn’t have done anything else, but I think science was always going to appeal to me!

I have always loved nature, and learning how things work, so science is perfect! I think it has to be one of the best jobs ever for a curious mind… whatever we manage to discover, there will always be so much more to know.
It’s an amazing feeling finding out something new that no-one else knows yet! I’m hooked 🙂 There are lots of challenges in the job, but it’s all part of the fun.

I became a scientist because I wanted to work in something I’m interested in. When you pick a job you are making a decision that will affect you for years so it’s worth picking something you enjoy doing rather than just for good money or good holidays. My interest started at school during geography lessons and it just stuck from there.
