I really enjoy my job! I organise scientific workshops and write summaries of the latest scientific research so decision-makers (politicians) can understand what they need to do to make our food system healthier and more sustainable.

I usually like my job very much – it depends what I’m doing, but I like getting outside and I like the people I work with. I get do a lot of interesting things as it’s very varied. And I Iike the thought I’m keeping people’s water safe.

My job is basically checking that Scottish Water is doing all it has to do to keep people’s tapwater safe and good to drink

Yes I love my job! I mostly work in a lab, doing experiments on plants and the bacteria, fungi etc that infect them. Have a look at the youtube video on my profile to see what one of my experiments looks like! As well as the labwork, there are lots of other parts of the job too, like writing research papers, presenting my work at conferences, and teaching some classes.

I enjoy my job,. I’m a Contaminated Land Consultant so I do quite a few different things, I work with lots of different people to investigate the ground where people want to construct new buildings to see if there is anything in the ground that might harm people, the environment or water (rivers, ponds, groundwater). I do this by drilling holes in the ground or digging large pits with a JCB and taking samples that get sent to the laboratory for testing. It’s muddy work but fun.
