Good question! We first start having good data for sea-level change around 1880. Since then, sea-levels have risen by about 20cm. By the end of the century, we expect seas to rise by between 50cm and 1 metre (depending on how much we carry on warming the planet). It might not sound like much, but this is super important during storms. Quite often around the world, the barriers we put up to protect our buildings and cities from storms only just cope. If we add another 50cm, then that might just be enough for water to go over the top of the barriers and cause flooding.
