11! I absolutely love being able to research science, see landscapes changing with the climate and talk to people all about the impacts of human activity. I’d love for my research to one day help influence politicians and leaders to protect the environment better.

Hmm I’d say 9 out of 10! I absolutely love it – I love discovering new things, you never stop learning in a job like this. There is always problem solving to be done, and every answer makes you ask a hundred more questions! It’s amazing knowing that the research I do could help to protect crops from disease and helping us to provide enough food for the world. There are ups and downs like in any job… some stressful times, some long days where you just can’t get an experiment to work. But a nice discovery makes it all worthwhile 🙂

It depends what sort of day I’m having. Usually I’d give it an 8, but sometimes it’s more like a 6 (if I’m in boring meetings, having a row with someone, having to tell someone they’re not doing their job properly). If I’m out in the countryside and the sun’s shining it’s a 9….

      9 out of 10!
I love going to work every day because every day is different and I never know what I might find. I’m lucky I get to do something I enjoy every day and I feel that what I do it worthwhile as I might find out something brand new. I also work with lots of other great scientists which is an important part of the job as we can work together and help each other out.
However, some days are very busy and often in science things go wrong which can be very frustrating.
So my job is 90% great !!

I love my job but there is always room for improvement and it doesn’t matter what job you do there will be exceptional days where everything goes brilliantly and there will be days where nothing goes well and you just want to hide under your desk. Overall I’d give it a 7/8 with good days reaching 9 (nothing is perfect) and bad days getting down to 3 (sometimes things can go very wrong).
