When I was a kid I wanted to be an astronaut (I’m claiming that as a sort of scientist!!). Then, I had a brief phase when I wanted to be a teacher. As I got older I wasn’t really sure – I just knew I wanted to do things I was passionate about. At the time I was super into baking so even looked into a career as a chef!

I wanted to be an artist or designer, then when I finished school I decided i wanted to be an aromatherapist (using plant essential oils and doing massage, helping people to de-stress and relax!) I did that for a few years and had my own little business, before I went back to university to study biology.
A lot of us took wiggly paths to get to where we are, so don’t worry if you don’t have a clear idea yet! Go with what you love doing 🙂

the first thing I can remember wanting to be was a fireman (same as Brendan) but then i honestly dont think I thought about it for a few years. I’ve always been passionate about growing things, but I always assumed I couldn’t have a good career out of that (big mistake !). I think I gradually realised I wanted to do science when I was a teenager and this gradually turned into something to do with mining / mineral processing. And then I fell into water (not literally!)
