I’m curious! I really like knowing things, finding out how things work and I really want to find out as much as I possibly can about the Earth. I also want to make a difference to the world in my life. Climate change is a massive threat, and if I can help solve a little piece of the puzzle which ultimately helps reduce the impact of climate change, I will be happy.

I love learning, and love nature, so becoming a biologist seemed like a dream job! Discovering new things is so rewarding, and like Liam, I would like to make a difference in the world. Understanding how to protect plants from disease is an important part of making sure there is enough food for everyone, and making farming as environmentally friendly as possible.

I grew up in the country and spent all of my time outside, as I grew up I saw all the damage that humans cause to the natural world and I wanted to help to preserve the natural world for the future. This led me into a passion for contaminated land, which I got into through geography at Secondary School. This also lead me into a love of geology, physics and chemistry. My job as a scientist lets me learn more about the subjects I enjoy while trying to minimise development of the natural world.

I think it’s the thrill of understanding the natural world. I just had so many questions . Even now I like nothing more than having a problem and trying to make sense of it and find out what is going on.
