      I work on the tiny tiny details of plant disease… when a microbe is trying to infect a plant they use clever tricks, like injecting special infection proteins (‘effectors’) into the plant to make it sick. Some plants are good at recognising these, and as soon as they recognise it they switch on their immune system!

      I got to figure out how one of these infection proteins works in potato blight disease!
